Thanks for visiting my website! I absolutely love the Theakston Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival. It's the highlight of my year and a great opportunity to meet other authors.
In 2022 in memory of my dad, who passed away in July 2021 and who was kind and generous to many people throughout his life, I gave away a weekend package to the festival to an unpublished writer who hadn't been before and who had always wanted to go, but circumstances such as cost meant they hadn't.
And now I'm doing the same in 2023!

What's included in this give away

Who this giveaway is for
This give away is open to any writer, whether published or unpublished who hasn't been to the Harrogate Crime Writing Festival before.
I first attended the festival in 2019. I'd wanted to attend in previous years but I didn't have the money to go. There was also a part of me that thought I shouldn't attend because I didn't have a book deal yet, which I needn't have worried about. Lots of writers (published and unpublished) at every stage of the process attend the event, and not just crime writers either.
I'd like to give this weekend package to someone who deserves it. Someone who is passionate about writing books, whether unpublished, published (including self published), who would love to go to the festival, but hasn't been before because of the cost and other factors.
You can enter for yourself or you can nominate someone who you feel deserves it (please check that they're able to go first).
What if I don't know anyone going?
The two things I would say to that question is that the festival is a very friendly place, and secondly, I would suggest reaching out on Twitter or whatever social media platform you use. You won't be the only one who hasn't been before and it's a great way to make friends before and during the event. Following hashtags such as #HarrogateBound and #Theakstonscrime is a good way to connect with other people going
I'd love to meet for a coffee on the Thursday afternoon or Friday morning and say hi, although this is completely optional.

It's very simple. Email me at Lauren@Lauren-North.com with all the below information by 14th January 2023 and I'll get in touch by email on or before the 1st February if you've been chosen. (Please note: I will keep all of the information I receive completely confidential. I won't be announcing the person I choose on social media. You are welcome to announce it if you wish)

If you're nominating someone else then please include as much as as you can about the person and why you're nominating them.
